Frequently Asked Questions

What is "My Ride History"
"My Ride History" (MRH) allows you to create and share your personal ride history for FREE- your personal history of all the "rides" you have owned, including images, videos, stories and ride overviews. In many places around the world, the rides we've owned have been a big part of our lives- daily transportation, vacations, bike rides, motorcycle rides, boat rides, trips out snowmobiling. Many of these experiences are wonderful memories with family, friends, dates, spouses- you name it! MRH is a place to celebrate and share that part of our modern lives.

What About Privacy on My Ride History?
We designed the site so you can keep all details (stories, images and videos) about a ride private if you so choose. You may also make some items public and others private. Your MRH share link gives people all access to your ride history, public and private. Your history is secure in the sense only those who have the link that includes your key can see the private elements of your history. Of course, anyone you share your private MRH share link could share the link or individual private media and stories with others.

Please note, if any media or story are marked "public" for a given ride (even just one), that ride becomes available in public searches and our "Top" rankings list. However, only the ride details (Year, make, model, etc.) and the public story and/or public media are viewable by MRH's users.

We collect very minimal personal data, just your name and an email address, and our policy is to never share those data with 3rd parties.

What is a "Share Link"?
When you create your ride history, we generate a unique link to your ride history. The share link includes a share key- a GUID ("Globally Unique Identifier", a very unique key). This link allows you to share your entire history with your friends, including both the public and private components of your history. All of our other users are only allowed to see the public portions of your history. While this is a pretty effective way to keep the private portions of your history private, please keep in mind anyone with your MRH share link could view your entire history, including the private portions.

Where do I Find My Share Link?
The share link is only available for histories that have been created. If you have an existing history, log into My Ride History, click on "Edit History" link on the upper right in black menu. On the "My History" page, look for the bold heading "Your Private Share Link". Copy that URL to share with friends and family.

What kind of image and video files can I upload?
My Ride History supports the following image files: .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .jfif, .gif, .webp and .bmp. Note: MRH doesn't recommend using .bmp files for this site. The format is not compressed, and often has a large file size. Maximum file size for image files is 2 MB.

My Ride History supports the following video files types: .mp4, .mov, .ogv and .webm. Maximum video file size for video files is 10 MB.

My Ride History supports embedded videos from these properties: YouTube, Rumble, Dailymotion and Vimeo.

How do you determine a "Top" ride?
In support of our philosophy of avoiding "Big Tech" when possible, we use clicky.com to track website traffic to each ride. We simply sum the number of visits to a ride for 4 time periods (1 day, 7 days, 30 days and 90 days) to create our "top" lists. Only rides that are publicly viewable are counted in the "top" lists.

Where do you get your technical automobile data from?
We use Carfolio technical auto data. We use the year, make, model, body and engine information to key on an auto's data. When creating or editing an auto ride's history, we encourage you to use the Carfolio make and model data. Carfolio is amazingly complete and includes almost all auto make and model data, however not all the model years are not perfect (due to MRH wanting to cover all model years- it's taken a lot of work to get it in good shape), and if you can't find the exact data for your automobile, please select a similar entry. If you'd like to add the make and model manually, please do (Select the "Car w/User Make and Model" option under "Vehicle type").
